The Pastoral Care Commission believes that no one need be alone. As a parish family, we can provide many things - from visits by a friend in Christ to transportation for medical care or to church to meals for those in need of this assistance.  As a member of our parish, one becomes part of the St. Luke's family.  When a need arises, members of this commission - often joined by other members of the Parish - provide assistance.

MEALS MINISTRY - Members of this group prepare and deliver meals to anyone in the parish who is in a medical or bereavement crisis.  This ministry has up to 25 members who are ready to provide this short-term service.  A call to the church office will initiate this ministry.

PRAY-ERS - Prayer works!  St. Luke's Pray-ers (intercessors) pray for our church and many other people/situations.  Daily, our prayer warriors offer intercessory prayer with God for other's needs.  One of the many incredible answers to prayer was a  concern for a teen involved in a terrible car accident, suffering extreme head injuries and other serious injuries. He is now back in school when doctors had not even expected him to live. Praise God!

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS - From time to time, parishioners are unable to drive themselves to weekend worship services to special St. Luke events or to medical appointments. Volunteer drivers are available to drive members in need of transportation to church and to medical appointments. When a large group is gathered at the same place, such as Prescott Samaritan Village, St. Luke's borrows Chapel rock's van to transport them. Volunteers regularly pick up parishioners at the Arizona Pioneer's Home and Samaritan Village. Often these rides result in visiting those who are not getting out as they once did.  If you find yourself in need of transportation, please make it known to the Commission chair.  Please see Vestry page.

FUNERAL RECEPTIONS - Several teams of hosts and hostesses are on call to provide receptions in the Parish Hall following funerals.  Depending on the family's wishes, the teams can provide a "sweet" reception of cookies, cheese and crackers, tea and coffee and or a "sandwich" reception which includes lovely sandwiches, desserts, cheese and cracker trays, as well as tea, coffee, and light cool drink. Extra hands are always welcome as bakers, servers or cleanup crew. Both men and women are welcome to participate.  A minimal charge covers the cost of the food.

THE BLOOD DONOR DRIVE held in the Parish Hall was an Outdreach program coordinated by the Pastoral Care Commission.  The first held at our new location, it exceeded expectations for a first-time drive.

The success of the Pastoral Care effort depends on parish members advising the commission of who may need assistance.
