So what's the scoop on Chapel Rock you want to know? Well it's fun, a fantastic learning opportunity, fun, a memory making place, fun, unforgettable, oh and did we mention fun? There are camps for all ages this year (see's Bee's recommendations below) so there is a time and place for everyone.
Get your registrations in early (right now while you're thinking about it would be good) before all the spots fill up. If you are worried about money, don't be. St. Luke's has a great scholarship fund to send St. Luke's kids to camp. Get your registration form into Chapel Rock along with your deposit. Send Bee an e-mail at beesena@gmail.com about your scholarship need or talk to her at church during coffee hour. Our goal is to have all our kids go at least one week each summer. What a deal!
For all the details and registration forms you will need to follow this link to the chapel rock website: www.chapelrock.net. There is more than one choice for many of the age groups, so before you go, you may want to read through the following list of Bee's recommendations for different ages:
High Schoolers: June 7-13: Chapel RockS! (it really will)
And because you just love Chapel Rock so much, follow that up with a week of W.I.L.D. and then for you juniors and seniors a week at The Well. Take a break for 4th of July, and then enjoy our St. Luke's mission trip to San Diego, July 9th - 13th... see Bee for details. When you get home from that, then you can go with the fam. to Disneyland or wherever. If they have already scheduled the trip sometime that will goof up your chapel rock / mission trip plans, the solution is simple: have them change the family vacation! Easy right? Oh, but so worth it.
6th - 8th graders: June 14 - 20th: Chapel RockS! (yep, I'll say it again... it really will rock!)
Three reasons to pick these dates... 1) your little sib. WON'T be there, 2) you will get to sleep in at least 1/2 hour later, and 3) (most important) you can still go on the St. Luke's Youth Group Mission Trip to San Diego July 9th - 13th. See Bee for details. It's going to be totally awesome and you won't want to miss it!
3rd - 5th grade: June 28th - July 4th: The Gift of Love
Three reasons to pick these dates...1) your little sib can go the same week and you can show them around (but don't worry, they'll have their own cabin and their own things to do) 2) it's when the rest of your St. Luke's buddies will be there, and 3) Ms. Bee is going too (she'll help teach crafts... can't wait to see you!) And just in case you were wondering, yes, you'll make it home in time to see those evening fireworks over Prescott :-)!
Kindergarten - 2nd grade: June 28th - July 4th: Mini-Camp + ABC (Ankle Biters Camp)
That's right, you read it correctly. Chapel Rock has something new this year for younger kids. Mini-Camp is a 3 night camp which is the perfect introduction for your child to chapel rock. The ABC camp follows that and is for parents to experience with their children. So much fun!
Mom & Dad and the rest of the fam. too: July 12 - 15: Family Camp
Let your kids be the counselors and show you just how to make the most out of your Chapel Rock experience. Admit it, it has been a while since you were at camp last, and you are craving a s'more right about now. Well, it's your turn to have all the fun, and not even have to cook or clean up the kitchen. For that reason alone, it beats the beach, and who wants to go to Disneyland with all those crowds in the summer? As if that wasn't enough, here's one more reason to make Chapel Rock your summer vacation this summer: you can't beat the travel expenses! The funny thing about Chapel Rock is it feels far away even though it's right here in town. So go ahead and give yourself a treat. You'll want to make it a yearly family tradition!
