 Philosophy

The Children's Ministry Team truly believes that children are a gift from God!  We strive to teach our children the Lord's word and His love in a fun, safe, and warm atmosphere.  We believe that children come to us with a rich experience with the Holy Spirit. It is our job to help children understand the art of religious language – parables, sacred stories, and liturgical actions, in order to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.

Nursery

Safe, comfortable & professional Nursery Care, with Bible stories & crafts, is available during the 10 am service on Sundays for children through the age of six.  The nursery opens at 9:30 am. In addition, nursery care is provided when there are adult forums between 9 and 10 am on Sundays. Additional hours are often added as well for special events.   Please check with our nursery director with specific questions regarding special coverage times.

Sunday School

Sunday School takes place during the 10:00am service, starting at 9:30 am and ending at the peace time.  Children are brought into the 10 am service at the peace to sit with their families or may go to the nursery depending on parent’s wishes.  We use a combination of curriculum resources depending on the age group.   Current resources include Godly Play every other week and other crafts and bible stories on the off weeks for our pre-school through 3nd grade children, and "Grapple", a discussion based curriculum with an on-line component for our 4th through 8th graders.  For more specific questions about curriculum, please speak our Director for Children and Youth Ministries at 928-778-4499 ext 306.

To register for Sunday School, please download the following form, complete, and turn in at our nursery on any given Sunday.  Hard copies of these forms are also available in our nursery.

Special Events

In addition to our regular Nursery and Sunday School program, Children's ministry constantly has exciting and fun events on the drawing board, such as our annual Christmas Pageant, Easter Party, Vacation Bible School and more.  Watch the weekly bulletin for dates and times, read your Parish Window Newsletter, and/or keep posted via our News & Events sections on our home page, or the Children & Youth News Blasts here at this website.  If you are not receiving the Parish Window, but would like to, please contact us at the office to request a copy.

In addition, you can get details on upcoming events through the following pages within this site:

Vacation Bible School

Each summer St. Luke's invites children preschool age through 5th grade to participate in a week long Vacation Bible School program, generally in the morning.  Planning for this annual program begins in the Spring each year.  If you are interested in being involved in this coming summer's VBS program, please contact the Director for Children and Youth Ministries.  For more information on this coming summer's VBS program, please click here.

Volunteers

Our special events as well as our regular programs could not happen without our wonderful volunteers!   If you have a heart for children, and would like to help out on a one time basis or all year, please contact our Director for Children and Youth Ministries or our Vestry member and liaison to the Christian Formation commission.   In addition to our one time events, we welcome regular volunteers for the following areas: Christian Education Commission (~once a month meetings), Nursery Volunteer, Sunday School Teacher's Assistant, Coffee Hour Playground Monitor, Coffee Hour Youth Room Monitor, and Youth Group Volunteers.  Also during the Spring of each year, volunteers are needed for our Vacation Bible School Planning Team.

Please know that all our volunteers who work with children are required, for the safety of our children to have a background check and to go through Safeguarding God’s Children Training.  To be on our volunteer team, please download and complete the following application and turn in to our Director for Children and Youth Ministries:
